At the height of the Greek-Macedonian name dispute, a strange coincidence occurred with two copies of the same publication. Sharing the same room of the library of Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain, the two copies ended up on different shelves – one in the publications issued by Greece and the other in those issued by R. Macedonia.
Ironically, the publication was an exhibition catalog entitled “© EUROPE EXISTS”, featuring works by artists from the 15 EU member states. Besides suggesting to “the idea of Europe having a cultural and political identity of its own in this era of globalized imperialism”, it also refers to the postcolonial discourse.
While the Macedonian shelf in the Casino Luxembourg still holds the book “© EUROPE…”, the Republic of Macedonia is on a long waiting line to join the European family.
