2020, cotton tote bags and statements (participatory project)
The lack of consideration, the self-obsession and the destruction of nature in disastrous proportions, work already towards an apocalyptic ending. The level of seriousness requires on daily basis our actions and active involvement. Otherwise, we will have the “honour” to witness the last years of humanity.
Created in a specific geographic and social context*, the project seeks to encourage а small scale everyday actions. Focusing on one of the causes of the environmental disaster – the production and use of disposable plastics – offers to support us in changing our habits.
Тhe project is consisted of ten variations of cotton tote bags, distributed among the audience of the exhibition “Panic Room, Or: Leap into Thinking”, and later to the visitors to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje. In return, the audience was asked to sign their promise that they would join the fight against the use of disposable plastic. The cotton bags further disseminate and convey the message, through the witty text printed on them, based on proverbs and colloquial sayings.

* In the specific context where this project/exchange was developed, the use of plastic bags is still the rule and not the exception when it comes to shopping habits.
